Doris Adline Gilliam

Doris Adline Ledbetter Gilliam, 91, of Nebo, passed away Monday, July 13, 2026 at her son’s residence in Lenoir.

A native of McDowell County, she was born September 23, 1934 to the late Millard Roland Ledbetter and Monnie Ledbetter.

Doris was employed at Marion Manufacturing for over 40 years. She will be remembered as a hard worker. She was a dedicated member of Cross Mill Pentecostal Holiness Church for over 50 years. Doris loved the Lord wholeheartedly and served Him faithfully. She loved her family immensely, and her grandchildren brought her great joy.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Samuel Gilliam; one brother, Dan Ledbetter; and two sisters, Frances Tacker and Marilyn Payne.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Roger Gilliam (Karen) and Rev. Keith Gilliam (Lana); two grandchildren, Jennifer Decker (Bradley) and John Gilliam (Sidney); one great-grandchild who was her pride and joy, Briggs Decker; one brother, David Ledbetter (Christine); two sisters, Lois Hawkins and Judy Houck; and a sister-in-law, Wilma Ledbetter.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 17, 2026 from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Beam Funeral Service. A funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. and will be officiated by her son, Rev. Keith Gilliam and Rev. Doug Beane-Hall. Interment will follow at Montford Cove Baptist Church Cemetery.
