Doris Jean Crist Burleson

Doris Jean Crist Burleson, 63, of Marion, passed away on the morning of Monday, May 4, 2026 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.

A native of West Virginia, Doris was born on December 28, 1962. Doris served as a school counselor for over 20 years. She was a devoted and cherished member of Grace Community Church. Doris enjoyed reading and working puzzles, but she will be most remembered for her love for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and for her deep love, care, and concern for her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Samuel Leighton Crist.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 35 years, Kevin Burleson; her mother, Carol Delariva; three siblings, Lillian Crist, Georgia Peek, and John Crist; brothers-in-law, Alan Scott Burleson and Creed Donald Burleson; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Doris will lie in state on Friday, May 8, 2026 from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at Grace Community Church. A celebration of her life officiated by Rev. Jerry Lewis will begin at 2:00 p.m. at the church with a reception to immediately follow.

Interment will be held on Monday, May 11, 2026 at 12:00 noon at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
