Donald Christopher Childers

Chris Childers, 52, of Nebo, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 27, 2025 at Mission Hospital McDowell.

He was born in Burke County on January 8, 1973 to Wanda Sprinkle Childers and the late Donald H. Childers.

Chris was a faithful member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. He was well known for the numerous wrestling organizations he was associated with over the years, and he was a great friend and mentor to all he met. Most of all, he will be remembered for the deep love he had for his family. He was a loving son, husband, and father who will be deeply missed.

In addition to his mother, Wanda Childers; his wife of 25 years, Missey Hawkins Childers; four children, Bethani Childers, Dylan Childers, Larissa Childers, and Luke Christopher Childers; one sister, Melanie C. Ross (Michael); his maternal grandmother, Mildred Sprinkle; and a number of beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends on Monday, June 30, 2025 from 1:30 until 3:00 p.m. at Zion Hill Baptist Church. The funeral service will begin at 3:00 p.m. at the church with Dr. Tom Walker and Mr. Paul Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
