Diane Lipps Street

Diane Lipps Street, age 77, of Hamburg Road in Bakersville, the Ledger community, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2026 at her home. 

Born on September 6, 1948 in Avery County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Anna Rae Aldridge Lipps. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sisters; Lillian Buckner, Betty Leonhardt and Laura Rohr and her brothers; John, Ben, Samuel, Clay, William and T.J. Lipps.

 Diane was a charter member of Mitchell Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife for fifty-seven years that loved the Lord, her pastors, church family and singing in the church choir. She enjoyed going to flea markets, sewing, cooking and going out to eat at Olive Garden. She was retired from Bombardier in Spruce Pine. 

Left to cherish her memories are her husband of fifty-seven years; Wayne Street, her brother; Jack Lipps and wife, Jeannie, her sister; Mary Thomas, her sisters-in-law; Betty Lipps, Glenda Lipps and Betty Jo Lipps, several nieces and nephews. 

The funeral service for Diane Street will be on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Walnut Grove Church with the Rev’s. Blake Glenn, Israel Gibson, and Bruce Cannon officiating. Interment will be in the Walnut Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 27, 2026 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Walnut Grove Church.
