Dennis Francis McOmber

Dennis Francis McOmber, 79, of Marion, North Carolina, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on June 5, 2026, after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer's disease

Born on May 25, 1947, in Waterbury, Connecticut, Dennis lived a life defined by faith, hard work, dedication to family, and service to others. Known by many as a true "jack of all trades," he possessed a remarkable ability to fix, build, and create almost anything he set his mind to. More importantly, he used those talents to help family, friends, neighbors, and anyone in need.

Dennis was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Beverly Joy "Bevie" McOmber, whose love and companionship were among the greatest blessings of his life. Their enduring devotion to one another created a foundation of love that continues through the family they built together.

Throughout his life, Dennis worked in a variety of trades, most notably as the owner and technician of a swimming pool business. He was highly respected for his work ethic, craftsmanship, and willingness to tackle any challenge. In addition to his work in the pool industry, he was a skilled mechanic and talented woodcrafter. Whether repairing an engine, building furniture, or finding a creative solution to a problem, Dennis approached every task with determination, patience, and skill.

In his later years, Dennis faced the challenges of Alzheimer's disease with the same determination and resilience that characterized his entire life. Though the disease gradually took much from him, it never diminished the love he had for his family or the impact he made on those around him. His family remains deeply grateful for the compassion, care, and support shown to him throughout his journey.

A devoted Christian, Dennis's faith was central to his life. He faithfully served his church in numerous capacities, including as a deacon and on several church boards. He believed in serving others and quietly demonstrated his faith through acts of kindness, generosity, and steadfast commitment to his church family and community.

Family was always important to Dennis. While long workdays often competed for his time, he did his best to be present for the sporting events and activities of his children and grandchildren. He took pride in their achievements and cherished every opportunity to support them and celebrate their successes. Dennis expressed his love in many ways, often through the simple moments shared with family. He was known for his enthusiastic use of pepper on just about everything he ate, a trait that never failed to spark conversation and laughter. His grandchildren will especially remember "Poppy's World Famous Pancakes," a beloved tradition that brought family together and created memories that will be treasured for generations. For them, those breakfasts were about much more than pancakes—they were about time spent with a grandfather who loved them dearly.

When he wasn't working, Dennis enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He was a devoted fan of the New England Patriots and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer them on. He was also an avid follower of NASCAR, enjoying the excitement and competition of race day. His love of sports and racing provided many opportunities to gather with family and friends, sharing stories, laughter, and memorable moments.

Dennis is survived by his daughters, Laura Joyce (McOmber) Wacaster and her husband, Michael Wacaster, of Marion, North Carolina; Michelle Elaine (McOmber) St. Pierre and her husband, Thomas St. Pierre, of Torrington, Connecticut; and Kimberly Joy (Mabry) Godin and her husband, Daniel Godin, of Torrington, Connecticut. He is also survived by his sons, Kevin Dennis Mabry, Sr. of Palm Coast, Florida, and Michael Jay Mabry of Port Richey, Florida.

He is further survived by his sisters, Cheryl (McOmber) Belanger and her husband, Steven Belanger, of Thomaston, Connecticut, and Tammy (McOmber) Cohen and her fiancé, Mike Mordino, of Southington, Connecticut and Elaine (Smith) Miller of Willimantic, CT. Dennis also had several nephews, nieces and cousins.

His legacy continues through his beloved grandchildren: Scott Aaron Nagy and his wife, Jamie Nagy; Keith Allen Nagy and his wife, Jessica Nagy; Kevin Dennis Mabry, Jr. and his wife, Brittany Mabry; Daniel Lawrence Mabry; Joseph Emmanuel Mabry and his wife, Kelly Mabry; Kristin Amber (Mabry) Ayala and her husband, Johnny Ayala; Cameron Dennis St. Pierre and his wife, Tori St. Pierre; Connor Thomas St. Pierre and his wife, Maggie St. Pierre; Mattie Elizabeth (LaRocque) Roddey and her husband, Charles Roddey; Sarah LaRocque Fulbright and her husband, Nathan Fulbright; and Evan David LaRocque. Samantha Gail Wacaster of Marion, NC. Joshua Paul Wacaster and his wife Lauren of Old Fort, NC. He was also blessed with many great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him tremendous joy and pride.

Dennis will be remembered for his strong faith, generous heart, steady presence, and unwavering love for his family. He taught by example the value of hard work, integrity, service, and perseverance. His family and friends will forever cherish the lessons he taught, the memories he created, and the love he shared so freely.

Though his earthly journey has ended, his family finds comfort in knowing that he is reunited with his beloved Bevie and resting in the presence of his Lord and Savior.

Dennis's life was a testament to faith, family, and service. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
