Debra Suzette Mace of Marion, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at home on May 1, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was a woman of deep faith, unwavering love for her family, and a steadfast commitment to her community.
Debra was a proud graduate of McDowell High School’s Class of 1973 and remained closely connected to her classmates throughout her life, cherishing the friendships and fellowship they shared over the years. She was a devoted member of Providence Church, where her faith guided her life and where she found great joy in worship, service, and caring for others.
A pillar of the Marion community, Debra was known for her kindness, her generous spirit, and her willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Whether through church activities, community involvement, or quiet acts of compassion, she made a lasting difference in the lives of so many.
Above all, Debra’s greatest joy was her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend whose warmth and strength created a foundation of love that will continue to endure.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mike Mace, and her parents, Nellis and Maxine Cornett.
Debra is survived by her son, Christopher Ledbetter (Whitney), and their sons, Jackson, Mason, and Will; her son, Adam Ledbetter (Misty), and their children, Olivia, Watson, and LJ; her stepson, Michael Mace (Ashley), and their children, Eli and Cole; her sisters, Kathy Moody and Teresa Brooks (Bill); her brother, Gary Cornett (Cindy); her nephew Marcus Cornett (Jordan) and their daughter Harper; her nephew, Luke Robinson (Amber) and their son, Lincoln; and her niece, Hayley Davis (Mitch) and their children, Aubrey, Brooklyn, and Colson; and her former husband and father of her children, Brad Ledbetter.
The family will receive friends on Monday, May 4, 2026 from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. at Providence Church, located at 83 Providence Church Road in Marion. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the church with Rev. Matt Mills officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Her legacy of faith, love, and service will live on through all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
The family is grateful for the prayers, support, and kindness shown during this difficult time.
