David LeRoy Setzer

David LeRoy Setzer, 79, of Marion passed away at his residence on Saturday, November 4, 2023 after a long battle with cancer, diagnosed in 2005.

David was born in Iredell County on January 16, 1944 to the late Thad Durant Setzer and the late Ahrevia Willis Reitzell Setzer. David was also preceded in death by his son, Shane Durant Setzer and a sister Carolyn Setzer Wilhelm.

He was a very active member of Providence Church where he served as a trustee, Sunday School teacher and the chairman of the administrative council. He also served as the quarter master of the men’s group.

Left to cherish David’s memory is his wife, Sandra S. Setzer; a daughter, Stella S. Adcock (Tab); a brother Roland Setzer; a granddaughter, Shana Adcock and nephews, John Wilhelm, Billy Wilhelm and Adam Wilhelm.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at the Providence Church on Providence Church Road with the Rev. Danny White officiating. Military honors will be provided by the United States Marine Corps. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
