David Franklin Holland, age 79, of Stacy Hill Road in Marion, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2026 surrounded by his loving family.

Born on June 13, 1946 in Avery County, he was the son of the late Benjamin F. and Margie Dellinger Holland. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother and an infant sister.

David was a member and deacon at Fairview Freewill Baptist Church. He loved loafing and traveling and going to trade lots, thrift stores and yard sales. Earlier in his life, he enjoyed fishing. Most of all, he loved people, spending time with his family and was particularly fond of his grandchildren.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife of fifty-eight years; Carolyn McCall Holland, his children; David Allen Holland and wife, Sandra, Elizabeth Duncan and husband, Donnie, Catherine Moore and husband, Chad and Charlotte Cartee and husband, Drew, his sister; Marie Terry, his grandchildren; Allen Holland, Camry Nichols, Ben Moore, Victoria Norwood, Brooke Burrell and Dylan Moore, and eight great grandchildren.

The funeral service for David Holland will be on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at 5:00 pm at Fairview Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev’s. Wayne Miller and Jeff Duncan officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 13, 2026 from 4:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Fairview Freewill Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Fairview Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.
