Dallas "Bucky" Spencer Reep

Nebo, North Carolina

Dallas “Bucky” Spencer Reep, 87, of Nebo, North Carolina, passed away Saturday morning, October 08, 2022 at Mission Hospital McDowell.

Bucky is survived by his wife of 35 years, Sally Smith Reep; four children, Christopher Reep, Brian Reep (Ann), Robert Garrison III, and Maria Cloer (Kevin); ten grandchildren, Nicholas Reep, Whitney Reep, Carolyn Reep, Bradley Reep, Landon Mariani, Ella Garrison, Avi Delpiano, Garrison Cloer, Connor Cloer, and Evan Cloer; one great grandchild, Palmer Godwin; and one brother, Sam Reep (Marilyn).

He was born in Burke County on February 01, 1935 to the late Dallas “Bub” Reep and Ruth Branch Poore. His first wife, Jane Styers Reep, also precedes him in death.  Bucky was employed with New York Life for nearly 60 years. Prior to this, he taught and coached at Marion High School. He was avid in both golf and baseball. Bucky was the first recipient of a baseball scholarship to East Carolina University, and he was a fan of the Boston Red Sox. A member of First United Methodist Church, Bucky had many friends and loved them all immensely. He was also a member of the Marion Lake Club.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at four o’clock at First United Methodist Church with David Riggs and Rev. Mike Holder officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00; two hours prior to the service.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to CarePartners Hospice McDowell or First United Methodist Church of Marion.
