Cynthia Lynn Thomas Edwards, 55, of Marion, passed away Friday, March 27, 2026 at Mission Hospital in Asheville.
Cindy was born in Hendersonville, North Carolina on June 7, 1970 to Joseph “Ned” Lanning and the late Dorothy Pruitt Lanning.
Cindy formerly worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She enjoyed fishing, tending to her vegetable and flower gardens, and attending auctions. Above all, she loved her family and especially cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Joe Thomas and Boyd Thomas; a sister, Carolina “Kathy” Thomas; and a niece, Hannah Thomas.
She is survived by her husband, Gus Edwards; four children, Joshua Thomas (Hannah), April Thomas, Richard Thomas, and Kevin Bronson (Rachel); her father, Ned Lanning; brother, Clifton Thomas (Cheryl); sister, Amanda Brotherhood; sisters-in-law, Debi Thomas and Martha Thomas; nieces, Jessica Thomas (Brandon) and their children, Nathaniel, Flynn, and Allie, Sandra Thomas (Kellyanne), and Becky Smathers and her children, Brianna, Melvin, Sophie, and Journey; nephews, Caine Thomas (Ashleigh) and their children Avery and Bray, and Cody Thomas; grandchildren, Pollyanna Thomas, Cooper Thomas, Colton Thomas, Jacob Thomas, Jade Thomas, Ami Cowart, Albert Edwards, Diamond Edwards, Jeremiah Bryant, Bo Edwards, Angela McKinney, William McKinney, Amber Wilson, Alexis Edwards, Landon Anderson, Eleanor Edwards, Derek Lewis, Braden Sides, Sawyer Bronson, Cash Bronson, Adaline Bronson, and Piper Bronson; her great-grandchildren, Josie Bryant, Mark Mills, Jr., Nevaeh McKinney, Rubi Edwards, Noah, and three more on the way. Cindy is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will hold a memorial service on Saturday, April 4, 2026 beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the Lucky Strike Gold and Gem Mine.
