Craig Eugene Metz, Sr., 71, of Nebo, passed away Friday, April 3, 2026 at Mission Hospital in Asheville.
A native of South Bend, Indiana, he was born on November 21, 1954 to the late George Metz and Shirley Schock Ressell.
Craig honorably served in the United States Army from 1974 until 1977. He worked as a crane operator for fifty years and was lovingly referred to as “Milky” by his colleagues. Having grown up in South Florida, Craig grew to love the outdoors from an early age. Whether fishing, boating, or scuba diving, he had a passion for being on the water. He also was an avid gardener and enjoyed time spent on his tractor. More than anything, he loved his family with everything in him. Craig will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Frank Landry and Nancy Landry-Ring.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 47 years, Pamella Metz; one son, Craig Metz, Jr. (Kristen); two daughters, Amy Hamilton (Kurt) and Brandi Forhecz; four siblings, Vickie Marshall (Wayne), Steve Metz, Dennis Metz (Nancy), and Jody Dean (Scott); eight grandchildren, Jordan Bivins, Tatum Hamilton (Robert Frey), Kylee Hamilton, Hunter Hamilton, Bella Metz, Lexi Metz, Jaxson Forhecz, and Brooklyn Forhecz; brothers-in-law, Brian Landry (Anna), Bobby Landry (Krislynn), and John Landry; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service. The date and time of the service will be announced once those details are finalized.
