Coleen Brown Grant

Coleen Brown Grant, 80, of Marion, passed away Friday, October 2, 2026, at Mission Hospital McDowell.

She was born in Buncombe County on April 5, 1946, to the late Sewell William Brown and Eunice Marjorie Davis Brown.

Coleen loved flowers and working in her yard. A talented seamstress, she previously worked as a weaver at Marion Manufacturing and loved sewing and quilting in her spare time. She also enjoyed cooking, traveling with her family, and spending quality time with them.

Her love was steady, fierce, unconditional, and always there when we needed her. She taught her family the meaning of strength, independence, hard work, creativity, and perseverance—not just through her words, but through how she lived her life.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Grant; two daughters, Sandra Denise Grant and Rebecca Charlene Mullins; and five siblings, Mildred Conner, Lillian Harris, Loretta Summey, Opal Ray, and William Brown.

Those left to cherish her memory are one daughter, Michelle Grant Mills (Chris); one granddaughter, Megan Mills; one sister, Velma Grant; a special friend, Allen Barts; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Monday, October 5, 2026, from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at Living Waters Tabernacle. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Keith Jamison officiating. Burial will be at Davistown Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.
