Clyde Monroe Robinson, age 95, of Marion, North Carolina passed away on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at the North Carolina State Veterans Home. A native of Clay County, Clyde was born on November 13, 1925 to the late Charlie and Margaret Grindstaff Robinson.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Arzella Boone Robinson and one daughter, Gloria “Toby” Robinson.
Clyde was a former member of Woodlawn Baptist Church and was a United States Navy veteran serving in World War II. Known as being an excellent carpenter, he enjoyed wood carving, gardening, hunting and fishing. He had a love for singing and enjoyed saying the alphabet backwards. Clyde was a loving father and grandfather who provided for his wife and seven children.
Clyde is survived by his six children, Joan Owensby, Sharon Hollifield Wyatt, Gordon Robinson (Debbie), Gwen Killough (Ricky), Laurel Lesesne (David) and Tammy Walker (Charles). Also surviving Clyde are nine grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Beam Funeral Service with Reverends Trent McKeehan and Dean Owenby officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
