Clara Gail Johnson

     Clara Gail Morgan “Mamaw” Johnson, 68, of Old Fort, passed away Friday, December 1, 2023, at Mercy Hospital in Charlotte.

     Mrs. Johnson was born in Asheville, NC, on May 13, 1955, to the late Cecil Creed Morgan and Helen Jeanette Speakes Morgan. She was married to the late Kevin Johnson. Mrs. Johnson was loved by many and was a beloved Mamaw. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, watching gameshows & cooking shows, but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren; and her friends at the gas station, Clark Lawing and Philip Hutchins. She will be greatly missed.  

     Those left to cherish her memory include a son, Joseph Johnson; a daughter, Michelle Gibbs (Chris); a sister, Jeanette Jenkins (Eric); three grandchildren, Andrea, Jessie, and Bryson Fulbright; five great grandchildren, Adeline Smith, Atlas Smith, Ivy Fulbright, Dawson Smith, and Daniel Smith; and several nieces, nephews, and special friends.

     A memorial service will be held at a later date.
