Charlotte Bernice Wilson

Charlotte Bernice Ballew Wilson, passed away on August 26, 2026, at the age of 88. She was born on March 20, 1938, in Yancey County. She was the daughter of the late Albert Ballew and Olamae Robison Ballew Collins. 

Charlotte will be remembered as a woman who dearly loved her family and found great joy in caring for those around her. She was known as a wonderful cook. She also enjoyed fishing, gardening, and raising her flowers, pursuits that reflected her patient spirit and her appreciation for simple, lasting joys.

Her family was at the heart of her life, and her memory will be cherished by those who survive her, step-daughter, Kim Camp; her son-in-law, Jack Gallman; her sister, Barbara Wade; and her grandchildren, Corey Camp, Jackie Hamm, and Shelly; numerous great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

 She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Wilson who passed on June 6, 2022; her daughter, Diane Gallman; and her son-in-law, Steve Camp; sisters, Gwendolyn Brown, Geraldine Hudgins, Vickie Dillard and a brother, Albert Ballew, Jr.

 A gathering of friends will be held on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Beam Funeral Service & Crematory, 2170 Rutherford Rd, Marion, NC 28752. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev Charles Dicks officiating.
