Charles Zebulon Koone

Mr. Charles Zebulon Koone, age 72, loving and amazing husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away on the morning of Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Mission Hospital-McDowell in Marion.  The son of the late Grover and Gladys Harris Koone, he was born in McDowell County, North Carolina on July 07, 1948.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Hartley Mace; one brother, Donald Koone; and one nephew, Alan Koone.

A member of Marion Seventh-day Adventist Church, Charles was an avid fisherman and hunter.  Although Charles was a hard worker, he always made time to attend a sporting event that his children and grandchildren were a part of; and he loved to take his grandchildren for a ride on his four-wheeler.  Truly loved by many, he will be missed, but will forever be in our hearts. He was a veteran of the United States Army.

Charles is survived by his loving wife, Chris Koone; four children, Alisa Gosnell (Tim), twin sons, Chuck Koone (Jennie) and Chad Koone (Kiersten) and Cindy Walker (Ron); nine grandchildren, Steven, Hope, Payton, Hayden, Zeb, Rylan, Madilynn, Sawyer and Brady; two brothers, Bob Koone (Mary) and Joe Koone; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Pastor Ron Davis officiating.  Interment will follow at Pine Cove Cemetery in Old Fort.  Military honors will be provided by the United States Army.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., two hours prior to the service, at the funeral home.
