Charles Wilard Barrier, 87, of Marion, went to be with the Lord on the morning of Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at his home with loved ones by his side.
A native of McDowell County, he was born September 7, 1938 to the late William Seth Barrier and Bessie Mae Freeman Barrier.
Mr. Barrier was formerly employed at Drexel Furniture. Earlier in life, he was a talented baseball player. He also enjoyed fishing. His Lord and Savior was most important in his life. He was a faithful and cherished member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. He truly loved going to church. A loving father, grandfather, and brother, he will be deeply missed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Barrier, one sister, and five brothers.
He is survived by three children, Karen Frisbee (Eddie Wishon), Kathy Bright (Ronald), and Ricky Barrier (Melissa); nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters with one on the way; and one brother, Dennis Barrier (Judy).
The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 21, 2025 from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, 222 Mount Pleasant Church Road, in Marion. The funeral service will begin at 3:00 p.m. at the church with Pastors Jason Bright, Timmy Bright, and Daniel McMahan officiating. Burial will follow the service at Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
