Charlene Presnell Grindstaff

On Thursday, February 19, 2026, Charlene Presnell Grindstaff, age 57, went to be with the Lord.

A native of Mitchell County, she was born March 9, 1968 to Mary Louise Hudgins Burgin and the late Vernon James Presnell. She lived in McDowell County most of her life.

Charlene loved the Lord, and she put Him first in her daily life. She attended United Friendship Free Will Baptist Church. She never missed a chance to talk about Jesus, even to strangers. Charlene loved her community. Her church and friends at the YMCA became like family to her. She held a special place in her heart for her family, and she especially adored her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

In addition to her mother, Mary Louise Burgin, she is survived by her children, Celesta Grindstaff (Jerrid), Alicia Morrow (Jonathan), and Jarmey Dewayne Grindstaff; four grandchildren, Adalyn, Everleigh, Midoriya, and Gracie; her brothers and sisters, Leona, Becky (Gary), Wesley, Sheila, Vernon (Kim), Pam, and Charles; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 26, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Zion Hill Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the church with Rev. Billy Styles officiating. Burial will be in Murphy's Chapel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
