Carolyn Eileen Hall Buchanan

Carolyn Eileen Hall Buchanan, 86, of Green Mountain, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 2, 2025 at her home.

She was born in Mitchell County on July 10, 1938 to the late Ernest Hall and Zella Laws Hall. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Stuart Buchanan; two grandchildren, Garrett Presnell and Levi Maltba; and her sister, Anita Hall.

Eileen was formerly employed in retail sales and also as a seamstress. For most of her career, she worked in food service within the Mecklenburg County School System. She was an amazing cook and often provided meals to ease someone else’s burden during their time of need. Eileen looked for ways to serve others, no matter their background or personal circumstances. She had the biggest heart and chose to demonstrate her love for the Lord through acts of service. Her home was open to all who entered over the years. Eileen had a heart for children, and it did her heart good to take care of babies. She loved flowers and had an incredible green thumb, and she will also be remembered for her love for her late canine companion, Katie. She will be missed.

She is survived by her three children, Daniel Buchanan, Sherie Presnell-Cranford, and Lorie McKinney (Alan); ten grandchildren, Erika Buchanan, Emily Buchanan, Cade Buchanan, Corey Presnell (Courtney), Kelsey Presnell Ward, Doug Cooksey (Lirije), Ethan McKinney (Kalina), Caleb McKinney (Taylor), Rachel Barkley (Nate), and Shana Hollifield (Chris); her great-grandchildren, Braxton, Vada, Matthew, David, Ezekiel, Carly, Canaan, Kora, Briley, Haylee; her brother, AJ Hall (Barbara); and special friends, Fannie and Martin Cappadona as well as Mike and Merry Scott.

The family will receive friends at Beam Funeral Service on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Joseph Riley Hall Cemetery in the Double Island Community.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Compassionate Care Western North Carolina for their services in caring for Eileen and her family.
