Carl Michael Marlowe, 68, of Marion, passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.
He was born in McDowell County on August 3, 1957 to the late Carl Howard Marlowe and Ella Faye Hall Marlowe.
Mike dedicated a remarkable 35 years of his career to Baxter Healthcare. He was deeply involved in his community. He served as a volunteer fireman for an impressive 28 years at both the Newland Fire Department and Sugar Hill Montford Cove Fire Department, showing his unwavering dedication to helping others in his community. His professional commitments were marked by a strong work ethic and deep admiration from the many people whose lives he touched.
Mike had a passion for classic cars and trucks, particularly Chevy models, and found joy in attending car shows where he could share this enthusiasm with others. He was also an avid fan of the UNC Tarheels, supporting the team with genuine fervor. Additionally, he loved taking road trips. His family was his pride and joy, and his love for them was unmatched.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a special aunt, DeVue Harris, and a cousin, Vann Wall.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Cheryl Williams Marlowe; two daughters, Rebecca Nodine (Barry) and Kimberly Frisbee (Kelly); a step-daughter, Caycee Wilson; two step-sons, Joseph Boyter (Kayla) and Jacob Boyter (Jessica); his grandchildren, Caroline Nodine and Colby Elliott (Bella); his step-grandchildren, Karoline Boyter, Katherine Boyter, and Kaisley Guffey; two great-grandchildren, Waylon and Lainey; sister-in-law, Tammy Barrier; a special cousin who was like a sister, Linda Wall; a number of close friends, Donnie Ogle, Jeff “Spook” Collier, Ted Wiseman, and Curtis Angley; and his special companions, Thunder, Ruby, Doogie, Missy, and Lucy (who is deceased).
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 23, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at Beam Funeral Service. A funeral service will begin at noon at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Montford Cove Baptist Church Cemetery.
