C. Phillip Moore

On Tuesday, December 23, 2025, C. Phillip Moore, 92, of Marion, passed away at Autumn Care of Marion, after a short illness.

A native of Rutherford County, he was born on November 2, 1933 to the late Otto Moore and Louise Beam Moore.

He was a graduate of Cliffside High School, attended Clemson University, and graduated from Furman University. While in college, he was a member of the ROTC. After graduating, he was in the U.S. Army and later the Army Reserves. He was a member of Clinchfield Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Joanne Harrison Ross; his daughter, Maria Ellis (Will); his grandson, Jake Morrow; and Maria’s mother, Peggy Moore. Also surviving are his step family, Athena Ross Wall, Mike Ross (Debi), and Vanessa, Brian, Bailey, and Eli Wiig.

Following his wishes, there will be no services.
