Bud Phillips

Bud Phillips, age 91, born on December 9, 1934, in Mitchell County, North Carolina, passed away on February 18, 2026. He leaves behind a legacy of love and service that will be cherished by his family and friends.

A proud Marine veteran, Bud dedicated many years of his career to Henredon and Mohasco, where he was respected for his hard work and commitment. Beyond his professional life, Bud was known for his loving nature as a husband, father and grandfather. He took great joy in sharing his passions with his family, enjoying time outdoors, hunting, fishing, and camping. He also loved the friendly challenge of pitching horseshoes. He enjoyed gardening and was known for his quick wit and humorous nature.

Bud's contributions extended beyond his family and hobbies; he was an active member and trustee of the Mine Creek Baptist Church, where he found fulfillment in serving his community.

He is survived by his sons, Rick Phillips and wife Julie, Joey Phillips and wife Melissa, Eddie Phillips and wife Leslye, and Andy Phillips and wife Sandy. Bud also adored his grandchildren: Brinkley Butler and husband Rodney, Lacey Vaughn and husband Michael, Makayla Hudgins and husband Austin, Carson Phillips, Lexi Drennan, Shea Phillips, and Drew Phillips, as well as his great-grandchildren Blakely Butler, Raelee Butler, and Porter Hudgins.

Bud was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Grindstaff Phillips, parents, Calvin "Eck" and Millie Garland Phillips, and his sister Tootsie Williams.

Visitation will be held on February 22, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 3:00 PM with Revs. Daniel Whetstine and Mark McKinney officiating at Mine Creek Baptist Church in Bakersville, North Carolina. Military honors by Sgt. E.L. Randolph chapter number 54 DAV will be provided. Interment in the church cemetery will follow the service.
