Brenda "Susie" Harvey Knighton

Brenda “Susie” Harvey Knighton, 81, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away Friday, May 5, 2023 at CarePartners Hospice Solace Center.

A native of Marion, she was born August 25, 1941 to the late Rassie Clyde Harvey and Mollie Morrow Harvey. Susie was formerly a member of Cross Mill Pentecostal Holiness Church for many years, and she has been a member of Living Waters Tabernacle for 26 years. She was a faithful Christian lady. Susie was known by all as a good cook. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and sister as well as a loving grandmother and friend.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Jerry Don Knighton; siblings, Patsy Penland, Tommy Harvey, and Ronnie Harvey; and brothers-in-law, Johnny Knighton, Drew Knighton and Fred Rector.

She is survived by her son, David Knighton and wife Lynn of Swannanoa; two daughters, Brenda Hayes and husband Mike of Marion and Regina Elliott and husband Jim of West Virginia; brother, Wally Harvey and wife Betty of Old Fort; brother-in-law, Calvin Penland of Marion; sisters-in-law, Lorraine Knighton of Minnesota and Barbara Rector of Morganton; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; three step great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery with Pastor Keith Jamison officiating.
