Bobbie Stallings Dobson

Bobbie Stallings Dodson, 89, of Spruce Pine, passed away on August 26, 2026, at Mission Hospital.

 Bobbie was born on December 9, 1936, in Homestead, Florida, to the late Marlowe and Bonnie Stallings. Growing up as the daughter of a commercial farmer, she spent her childhood dividing her time between Homestead, FL and Hickory, North Carolina. 

After graduating from South Dade High School in 1954, Bobbie attended what was then Appalachian State Teachers College, graduating in 1958. It was during her college years that she met Donald Ray Dodson, whom she married on November 27, 1958.

Blessed with the true gift of gab, Bobbie never met a stranger. She had a rare talent for making anyone feel like an old friend within minutes, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, lively conversation, and deep connection. 

She is survived by her three children: daughters Cynthia Dodson (David) of Marshall, VA, and Kimberly Gouge (Jeff) of Spruce Pine, NC, and her son, Alan Dodson (Drew) of Davidson, NC. She also leaves behind two grandchildren: Megan Phillips (Ridge), along with her two great-grandchildren, Banks and Emery; and Scott Gouge (Abby), along with her great-granddaughter, Eden.

In keeping with her wish for "no fuss," a family graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Spruce Pine Memorial Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, and in honor of her love for local wildlife, especially her squirrels, memorial donations may be made to the May Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Banner Elk, NC.
