Billy Robert Tipton

It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of Billy Robert Tipton, who was born on March 28, 1939, in Clintwood, Virginia, and departed this life on May 2, 2026, at Autumn Care of Marion.

Known for his love of family and passion for fishing, Bill, lovingly known as "Daddy Bill", cherished the moments spent with his large and loving family. His devotion to those close to him was a defining characteristic that left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Bill Robert Tipton dedicated a significant part of his life to the Clinchfield CSX Railroad, where he worked diligently for 35 years. His leadership and commitment extended beyond his career, as he served as vice chairman of the BMWE Alliance System Federation, demonstrating his unwavering dedication to the railroad community.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Peggy Boyd Tipton. He is also survived by their children: Rhonda McFadden (John), Regina Stacy (Tim), Robert Tipton (Annette), and Lori Biddix (Jason). His family further extends to his grandchildren: Jennifer Devany, Shane Stacy (Kathleen), Kelsey Washburn (Dustin), Jordan McFadden (Megan), Sydney Tipton, Toby Tipton, Andrew Biddix, and Tommy Stacy. His great-grandchildren, Kylie, McKenzie, Owen, Greyson, Remington, and Colt, along with two great-great-grandchildren Owen and Colson, also carry forward his legacy.

Additional loved ones include his siblings, Chalmer Tipton (Owana), Fred Tipton (Lisa), Jim Tipton (Brittany), Clifford Tipton (Vicki), Peggy Benfield, Betty Shirlen (Dan), Jackie Tipton, Brad Tipton (Lisa), and Angie Walker (Dale).

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis "LC" Tipton and Gladys Stanley; his brother, LC Tipton Jr.; grandchildren Jared McFadden and Blake Stacy; and great-grandchild Willow Ferguson.

To honor his remarkable life, a visitation will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Beam Celebration Center, located at 2170 Rutherford Rd, Marion, North Carolina, 28752. Following visitation, a memorial service will take place at the same location at 3:00 PM.

Bill Robert Tipton’s dedication to his work, devotion to his family, and his gentle spirit will be fondly remembered by all who were privileged to know him. He leaves behind a rich legacy of love, commitment, and integrity that will continue to inspire his family and friends for generations to come. May he rest in peace.
