Billy Ray Miller

     Billy Ray Miller, 64, of Nebo, passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at the Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

     Billy was born in Yancey County, NC, on March 28, 1962, to Rosalee Hyleman and the late Jay Lloyd Miller. He was married to his wife of 27 years, Elizabeth Ann Caraway Miller. Billy was a gifted machinist and took pride in his job at Universal Machine & Tool. He was an avid fan of NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt. Among his many talents, Billy was an excellent carpenter and gardener and always took pride in helping his wife with canning. A caregiver at heart, Billy thought the world of his father-in-law, Carmel Mutt Caraway. He was a loving husband, son, and brother who will always be loved and remembered.

     Those left to cherish Billy’s memory include his wife, Elizabeth Miller; his mother and step father, Rosalee & Max Peters; a sister, Lisa Lynn Bocanegra; a niece, Lorena Bocanegra; two nephews, Morgan and Austin Bocanegra; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

     A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 10, 2026, at the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service. Rev. Shane Fulp will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
