Betty Ruth Pickering Rollo

Betty Ruth Pickering Rollo, 83, of Waynesville and formerly of Marion, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at the Four Seasons Elizabeth House. 

She was born in Jones County Mississippi on March 13, 1941 to the late Joseph Ransom Pickering and Genah Hill Pickering. Her husband, George Rollo, also preceded her in death.

Betty was a longtime faithful member of Rocky Pass Free Will Baptist Church. She most recently attended Calvary Road Baptist Church in Maggie Valley. She will be remembered by all as a strong Christian woman and a wonderful cook. She enjoyed crafting, making scrapbooks and caring for her yard in her spare time. She will be missed by all whose lives she touched.

She is survived by two children, Dean Rollo (Sherry) and Diane Bruce (Bob); seven grandchildren, Holly Watson (Jason), Amanda Rollo (Ed Arnaldo), Anna Thomas (J.T.), Abigail Alewine (Joe), Montgomery Lee Bruce (Carson Lenser), Scarlett Bruce, and Jack Bruce; her great grandchildren, Carson Talbert, Ryan Talbert, a baby girl Thomas on the way; and three sisters, Martha Hancock, Barbara Jackson, and Shirley Cope (Les).

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. at Rocky Pass Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Alan Sailors and Rev. Bobby Shehan officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 p.m. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all those who sent cards, texts and made phone calls during Betty’s final days.
