Betty Jean Weeks Mace, 80, of Spruce Pine, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 2, 2025 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital.
She was born in Bakersville on April 3, 1945 to the late Charles Rector Weeks and Maude Ann Cain Avery.
Betty had a love for animals and baby dolls, and in her free time, she enjoyed crocheting and coloring. She had a great love for her family and was very protective of them. The greatest love in Betty’s life was for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She made the most important decision of her life in March of 1982 when she was saved. She enjoyed listening to gospel music and was very faithful to read her Bible each evening.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold William Mace, three sisters, and three brothers.
She is survived by her children, Phillip Plaster (Lilly), David Plaster, Sergeant Major (Ret), USMC (Margie), Juanita Roland (Charles), James Mace (Julie), Teresa Mace, and Allan Mace; two step-children, Lisa Guion and Gene Mace; grandchildren, Betty Ann (Josh), Jamie, Brandon, Jacob, Toby, Jessica, Mary, Sam, Derek, Shaunna, Tabitha, Sara, Sheyane, Jesse, Martin, Christina, Patrick, Jeremy, Taylar, Lilly, and Kylee; ten great-grandchildren; one sister, Anna Arga Moore; and special friends who she considered her children, James Brown, Sammy Brinkley, Randy Hollifield, Sammy Johnson, Rachel and Travis Hollifield, Randy Hurst, and Eugene Edwards.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Pastor David Edwards officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m.
