Betty Bright Holtzclaw

Betty Bright Holtzclaw, 91, of Marion, passed away Sunday, December 24, 2023 at Amorem Hospice in Valdese.

She was born in McDowell County on December 4, 1932 to the late Ed Bright and Minnie Morgan Bright.

She attended Ashworth Road Baptist Church and was known as a very energetic person who loved giving to others. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who was a blessing to all she met.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three children, Mickey Owensby, Greg Holtzclaw, and Kim Proctor; and two brothers, Bob Bright and Jimmy Bright.

Those left to cherish her memory are one son, Tim Holtzclaw (Karen); stepson, Keith Holtzclaw (Karen); four grandchildren, Jennifer Dowdle (Clay), Kristin Holtzclaw, Brennan Proctor, and Morgan Proctor; three great grandchildren, Grayson, Addley, and Brooks Dowdle; and one brother, Ray Bright (Sarah).

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Rev. Gary Webb officiating. Interment will follow at McDowell Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m.
