Beatrice Maye Lankford

     Beatrice “Bill” Buchanan Lankford, 95, of Marion, passed away Thursday, October 1, 2026, at The Greens of Spruce Pine.

     Mrs. Lankford was born in Mitchell County, NC, on February 10, 1931, to the late Bernice Weatherman and Earl Buchanan. She was married to Ralph Lankford, who passed away on May 16, 2000. Mrs. Lankford was a member of Landis Presbyterian Church and was a Past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star in Marion. She retired from Coats North America after many years of dedicated service. She enjoyed playing Bingo and making jewelry, but most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. They were her pride and joy.

     In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Lankford was preceded in death by three brothers, Buck Buchanan, Harry Buchanan, and Sonny Buchanan; and a sister, Louise Buchanan.

     She is survived by a daughter, Melisa Alberts (Ray); three grandchildren, Bethaney Duke (Greg), Megan Furr (Dillon), and Zoe Halfpenny (Ian); and four great grandchildren, Elena Furr, Lucas Furr, McKenna Halfpenny, and Elijah Halfpenny.

     In accordance with her wishes, no services are scheduled.
