Barri Shawn Loftis

Barri Shawn Loftis, 65, of Rutherfordton, passed away on Monday, November 20, 2023.

Barri was born in McDowell County to the late Thomas Franklin Loftis, Jr. and the late Dorothy Jones Loftis.

He was a graduate of McDowell High School, and attended NC State University. He loved the game of golf and Alabama football. Music recharged his soul. He was known to be a kind, caring and compassionate person. Barri never met a stranger and loved to make people laugh. He could always be counted on to make others feel at home. Most of all, Barri loved his family and treasured his lifelong friendships. He will be greatly missed by his family and all his friends.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 37 years, Karen Philemon Loftis; his three children, Phil Black (Brittany), Matt Loftis (Kim) and Kyle Loftis (Jessica); four grandchildren, Tristan Loftis, Sydney Loftis, Ava Loftis, and Riley Loftis. He also loved his special friends, Scott, Sheila, Chris, Joe, and Wanda.

A gathering of family and friends will take place at Beam Funeral Service on Saturday, December 2, 2023 from 2:00 until 4:00 pm.
