Barbara Black Silver

Barbara Black Silver, age 91, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 24, 2026, at the Solace Center in Buncombe County.

Born on July 1, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Black and Ida McCanless Black. In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Don Silver; two brothers; and four sisters.

Barbara enjoyed reading, spending time with her cats, and cheering on the Tar Heels. She was a faithful member of Glenwood Baptist Church for more than 50 years, where she also taught Sunday school for 30 years.

Those left to cherish her memory are her three daughters, Beth Silver, Tammy Silver, and Kris Silver; and her sister, June Wilson.

In keeping with the family’s wishes, no services will be held at this time.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Barbara’s memory to CarePartners Hospice Solace Center.
