Barbara Jean Freeman Hensley

Barbara Jean Freeman Hensley, 81, of Valdese, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2023 at UNC Health Blue Ridge.

A native of Yancey County, she was born July 24, 1942 to the late Carroll Freeman and Mary Hughes Freeman. She was also preceded in death by a son, Carroll Freeman; and all of her siblings.

Barbara was a hard worker her entire life. She was always working to provide for her family and others, usually on third shift. She took great pride in caring for her home, and she loved dogs.

She is survived by three children, Grace Marie “Susie” Hensley, Mark Hensley (Frankie), and Landon Hensley; and three grandchildren, Douglas Lee Edwards, Kayla Dawn Hensley Toney (Robbie), and Zachary Kyle Hensley.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
