Ashley Renee Pentaude, age 40, of Lake Lure, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday evening, September 11, 2025 at Mission Hospital McDowell. She was born in Henderson County on September 30, 1984.
Ashley was known for her kindness and empathy, often demonstrating a deep understanding of the struggles faced by others. Her infectious sense of humor brought joy to those around her, making her a cherished presence in the lives of many. Ashley’s proudest accomplishment was her daughter, whom she loved deeply and dedicated herself to nurturing and supporting. She was a wonderful mother.
Ashley’s career flourished as she worked as a server and cook, including at her family's restaurant, where she poured her heart into her work and served customers with warmth and enthusiasm. Outside of her professional life, Ashley found joy in a variety of interests. She loved spending time at the beach and on the boat, where she could embrace the beauty of nature. A devoted cat lover, she also cherished her feline companions who provided her with companionship and comfort. Singing was another passion of hers along with drag queens and dragonflies.
In 2021, Ashley moved from Florida to North Carolina after suffering a stroke. This transition marked a significant chapter in her life, representing her resilient spirit and determination to overcome challenges. She fought hard to recover, inspiring those who knew her with her incredible strength and perseverance.
Those left to cherish her memory include her parents, William and Betty Pentaude; her daughter, Laela Raine Peterson; her sister, Erica McBride (Jeremy); her brother, Randy Pentaude (Sheree); and her best friend, Tiffany Cohen.
A private memorial service will be held by the family at a later date.
