Annette Matthews

     Margaret “Annette” Peek Matthews, 64, of Marion, passed away Monday, December 8, 2025, at her residence.

     Annette was born in McDowell County, NC, on November 22, 1961, to Margaret Vess Peek and the late Ben Peek. She attended Old Fort Wesleyan Church. Annette was a sales representative with the NC State Lottery and R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. She loved her dogs, Molly and Trixie, but most of all, she adored her grandbabies more than life itself. She will always be loved and remembered.

     In addition to her father, Annette was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Matthews.

     Those left to cherish her memory include her mother, Margaret Kelley (Locke); two sons, Justin Matthews and Dylan Mathews; a step daughter, Jennifer Plain; a sister, Beverly Heldman; two brothers, Keith Peek (Heather) and David Peek (Deana); two grandsons, Gunner Matthews and Axel Matthews; a step granddaughter, Amelia Plain; and several nieces and nephews.

     A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
