Aloysia Marie O'Connell Gardner

Aloysia Marie O’Connell Gardner, age 96, of Marion, departed this life on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

A native of Cape May County, New Jersey, she was born June 6, 1930, to the late Joseph O’Connell and Marie Miller Davies.

Aloysia was an avid reader, especially her Bible. She was a member of New Manna Baptist Church. She faithfully gave to many missions outside of her local church. She enjoyed trips to the coast and her beloved cats. Her daughter-in-law, Kelly, remembers her as her best friend and confidant who she talked with about everything. She loved Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune and could solve many of the puzzles. More than anything, Aloysia loved the Lord and her family. She was loved and will be missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles James Gardner; her daughter, Jody Cordell; and one sister.

She is survived by five children, David Lee Tucker Jr., Daniel Mark Tucker (Kelly), Steven Gardner, Theodore Gardner (Linda), and Jeffrey Gardner; fifteen grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

The family will hold a memorial service on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at New Manna Baptist Church with Pastor Tony Shirley officiating.
