Albert McGee Hicks

In the afternoon of Wednesday, December 15, 2021, Albert McGee Hicks passed away at Charles George VA Medical Center. A native of McDowell County, Albert was born on September 29, 1934 to the late Romie and Edna Effler Hicks.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Jean Setzer Hicks.

Albert retired from Broyhill Furniture Company following more than forty years of service. He enjoyed being outdoors working in his yard. He loved his family especially his grandchildren. Albert was a proud veteran of the United States Navy where he served as a cook.

He is survived by two children, Charlene Hunter and husband John and Lamar Hicks and wife Dawn; one brother, Lester Hicks; two grandchildren, Adelyn and Parker Hicks and one niece, Shannon Turner.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Beam Funeral Service with Reverend Bob Ritter officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be held following the service at McDowell Memorial Park.
