In the early morning hours of Tuesday, January 07, 2020 while surrounded by her loved ones, Cindy Yvonne Ollis Leatherman, age 50, went to sleep in Jesus and upon his return, she will see his face. The daughter of Trecia Freeman Smith of Morganton and the late Arnold Bailey Ollis, Jr., she was born in Burke County, North Carolina on June 28, 1969.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Jackie Edward Orders, Jr.
Cindy had a love of working with children and was a former school teacher at Icard Elementary School. Any chance she could, she enjoyed taking a trip to the beach.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her step-father, Joe Smith; one daughter, Bailey Jo Zimmer; three half-brothers, Tracey Orders (Joan), Tommy Ollis (Cheryl) and Marty Ollis. Cindy is also survived by her canine, Coco Chanelle; and feline, Oreo, which she loved both dearly.
A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, January 12, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Morganton Seventh-Day Adventist Church with Rev. Steve Bitz and Rev. Barry McHorney officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the church
