Ola (Davis) MillerSeptember 30, 1925 ~ October 20, 2017 (age 92)
Ola Davis Miller, age 92, of Morganton and formerly of Nebo, passed away on the evening of Friday, October 20, 2017 at Blue Ridge-HealthCare in Morganton. A native of McDowell County, North Carolina, born September 30, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Lester and Montie Brown Davis.
Ola, who lived in the Nebo Community since 1946, loved and supported her community. She was a caregiver and was very kind to those in need. When asked what made her happy, Ola responded, “Gardening, preserving food and sewing”. Not only was her family her main love, but her church family at First Baptist Church of Nebo was as well.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, E.K. “Dutch” Miller who passed away in 2004.
Left to cherish her loving memories are two sons, Gary Miller and wife, Vicki; and Terry Miller and wife, Diane; one daughter, Kay Miller Irvin & husband Michael; one brother, Willard Davis and wife Nancy; four grandchildren, Terry Davis II, Holly Miller Smith and husband, Scott, Ehrin Irvin and husband, Zachary Lesch-Huie and Joseph Irvin; and four great-grandchildren, Sloan Duke, Sutton Duke, Cory Smith and Blake Smith; Ola, known by her grandchildren as Maw Maw and Granny, was a strong influence by example of “right or wrong”. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, October 23, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Nebo with Pastor Doug Worley and Pastor Ronnie Gentry officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the church.
